Two by Two

Monday, September 10th, 2012

It seems like I’ve been watching it all for a decade.

Most of the year certainly.

Fights.

Bickering.

Viciousness.

Because they want it for themselves.

All of it.

It doesn’t occur to them that the other might be hungry.

Difficult times are these.

For everyone.

But not to the callous.

The uncaring.

Good things are theirs by right.

God help anyone who disagrees with them.

Who tries to take from them what they believe is theirs by right.

But it’s not a right, is it?

It’s a privilege.

Yet I continue to watch.

I am weary of watching.

Weary of the infighting.

The bickering.

They team up, at times.

There are four.

Two by two, they will bicker.

They openly broadcast their displeasure with their rivals.

Attack them viciously.

Over and over.

All in the service of having what they want.

What is their right to possess.

But both parties believe it is their right.

They don’t give up.

Don’t look from left to right at others.

Because it’s not about others.

It’s about themselves.

What they want.

What they mean to have.

It reminds me of the political process on display this election year.

Watching the hummingbirds fight.

As they do, day after day.

There is food enough for all.

Flowers are not blooming in the drought conditions.

My husband and I put out several feeders so they wouldn’t go hungry.

But some do.

For all our observation of animals.

We have not learned much.

The hummingbirds will go on fighting, generation after generation.

By all appearances.

So will we.

Independent Thoughts

I’m not sure if people actually suspect that psychic-mediums follow politics or not…I guess I DID predict Obama would be president on a episode of Psychically Correct when Hilary was still in the running, so there is precedent for it, along with the myriads of other psychics who have made political predictions, but still…

I was watching the State of the Union last night because it’s of interest to me as a person and a psychic to see who means what they say, and who is just giving lip service to a new proposal to help the people.

Because that’s what it’s about, right?

We the people.

As my post title implies, I am a proud Independent in matters of politics; not prone to agreement with either side; no, it’s more fair to say I’m on the side of whomever proposes something that helps we the people.

It was with great interest I watched the speech, and even greater interest that I observed the Speaker of the House, who was seated to the right and behind our president.

I was so interested in fact, that I grabbed my handy dandy notebook and counted the causes for which the Speaker of the House did not back; this was clearly seen by the lack of applause or token hand against hand action he evidenced when the President went through the changes necessary to make our country as great as it can be.

Let’s tally what the Speaker is against, shall we?

Renewable energy. The President proposes that we reward and encourage those on the forefront of research in order to wean us from our dependency on oil, in the process creating jobs and ensuring we have a viable environment to live in in the future. A stony face met the Presidents proposal; no applause to be found.

$10,000 to every student willing to go to college; in fact the money is proposed so every single person who wants to go, has a small but hopefully significant enough incentive that they can go and better themselves with hard work and effort-which is what has made our country great in the past, and the President hopes will for the future. At this point I became alarmed; it wasn’t just the stony face, but the sudden urge on my behalf to give the Speaker of the House a IV containing prune juice-he looked seriously constipated. No applause.

Infrastructure; the country is badly in need of an overhaul, and the President, wisely enough reasoned that this would create jobs and ensure safety and massive improvements in transportation which would behoove every single citizen. Again, it looked like the Speaker of the House was having extreme difficulty with a bowel movement that refused to move…so the vein in forehead throbbed as he tried to squeeze something out. No applause.

Freeze Domestic Spending, Defense Spending, Cutting Pork-just domestic spending alone would save us 400 billion a year the President said; the Defense Department, it is presumed by the camera panning to a grave yet acquiescent official who nodded his approval of the President’s plan. Senator McCain, long a proponent of cutting pork from the budget, stood up and applauded; and yet his Republican cohort, the Speaker of the House….sat grimly; not trying to squeeze anything out, but now in the position of merely enduring the speech. No applause.

No permanent Tax Breaks for the wealthiest 2% of our country-well, as the Speaker of the House might not belong to this top 2%, it can reasonably be assumed he knows many who are…and who indeed have likely donated money to either his campaign, or those he knows. This is, of course conjecture, but it’s traditionally been frowned upon by the Republican Party, many of whom are personally wealthy or in the know with those who are, that any tax breaks for the wealthy be cut off to help the not-so-wealthy. Darkened brows on behalf of the Speaker of the House ensued. No applause.

Bipartisan work to help strengthen Social Security for the disabled or elderly who have paid into the system and are in the process of being screwed over by that very system…while the tax cuts for the wealthiest 2% go on, and those who are disabled or elderly fight to make the small sums of money to a system they paid into last throughout the month. We all know they face the choice between much needed medicine or food; each and every month. Not that this phased the Speaker of the House of course, who appeared to be perishing the thought of helping those in need; no oil, big corporations, and the wealthy were more on his mind. No applause.

Don’t ask, Don’t tell. Never mind that as long as our military has existed, there have been fine gay men and women who sacrificed their lives for the freedoms we enjoy today-no, they need to be stuffed back into the closet and made to feel they are fundamentally flawed in some way heterosexuals are not…but oh yes, they NEED to keep sacrificing, oh yes they do, to protect the Speaker of the House…and others with his same mindset right’s to life, liberty, and the American Dream, which includes NOT being persecuted due to gender, sex…and presumably not for whom one loves either. No applause.

I think what best sums up the above reactions to what the President proposed, and oh yes, what Democrats will most likely roll over on their bellies and let Republicans stomp all over being done…and allegedly to maintain bipartisan support for what each party reckons need doing, is best summed up in the Speaker’s reaction to the Presidents proclamation:

“Let’s fix what needs fixing and move forward”

No applause from the Speaker of the House, who I propose familiarize himself with the phrase below; an affirmation if you will, to remind him that when times have been dark in American History previously…we have done well to follow the President’s advice and surmount the difficulties by moving forward together as a country united; not divided.

“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it”-George Santayana

We the people don’t ask the Speaker of the House to know and apply this phrase.

We the people demand it.

Politics from a psychic’s view…

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

We are in the midst of a historic election, so I couldn’t pass up the chance to reveal what psychics are saying and seeing in regards to the upcoming election. It’s nearly universal amongst my peers that Obama and Biden are going to take the election, in spite of the…reservations of some people regarding Obama’s race and experience, and Biden’s apparent propensity to open his mouth and spit out whatever is in his head. Since that’s pretty much what I do day by day in both personal and professional life, I can’t help but admire it, even though I know political correctness is held in huge esteem, I’d much rather see the persons true feelings, even if they go on a bit (you know, like me, lol).

As a rule, we psychics don’t probe into everyone’s mind or issues we encounter; however we do take a good look at personality, and what a person will do in a given situation, to see if we could stand them for any length of time, or most importantly work with them in a productive manner. So you can imagine that we have been viewing both candidates, and their picks for vice president with unwavering scrutiny.

With that unwavering scrutiny fully in place, I’m going to voice not only my opinion, but what I’ve heard voiced by other psychics in regards to the candidates competing for office.

Let’s start with the least offensive to us psychics, Obama and Biden. I have issues with Obama flipping here and there on some issues, but overall what he has portrayed as his policies are truthful and honest, the man really does intend to overhaul the status quo and reform how things are done; however, logic dictates he has to work with Congress on this, and even with a Democratic run Congress, he still cannot change all he wants to in any short amount of time, if at all. So that basically tells us that all the wonderful policies he wants to affect are going to run into some difficulties.

I have no issues with Biden whatsoever, the man is very upfront and honest, he speaks his mind, and he’s very on board with Obama as far as policy goes, in fact, I argue that Biden is needed because he does have experience that Obama lacks, therefore, he will balance things out nicely, though at times he does tend to overshadow Obama when he’s speaking, which makes Obama look less effective.

I’ve basically saved the worst for last, McCain and Palin. There is a private message board on which loads of psychics were asked what they thought of McCain and especially Palin, and 99% were totally disgusted by the woman, and that very much is a psychic reaction, not a normal well I can’t believe he picked Palin and thought women were stupid enough to go for Palin as some bizarre substitute for Hillary Clinton. We cannot stand Palin because she is arrogant personally, thinks like a dictator, and is not truthful a great deal of the time so that she can gain what she wants in the end. This was only validated in the past few days ( the question was asked of psychics a good two or three weeks ago) when it came to light that she wanted a certain book banned, and threw a little fit and fired the librarian who refused to remove it at her behest. Never mind that she thinks Georgia should join NATO so that we can then take actions against the Russians should it come to it (suicidal at best) and believes she qualifies as a great foreign policy leader though she’s only been out of the country once, and can see Russia from her backyard. Or the fact that in the past day or two, she had a foreign policy meeting and only allowed cameras in for 29 seconds to take shots of her foreign policy prowess, but not to actually listen and observe her ignorance come into play. We psychics simply cannot stand her.

The odd bit here is that we like McCain, not just because he has been through adversity and perservered but because he is honest and forthright, and believes he knows what is best for the country. The issue with that is, his view for our country doesn’t differ fundamentally from what we have endured the past eight years, and also….most psychics aren’t rich people, believe it or not. So we frown when it’s discovered John McCain isn’t aware of how many homes he owns, and has recently also come to light, owns thirteen cars.

Maybe it’s just envy, that Palin is lovely to look at and has gotten so far, or that McCain is extremely wealthy, loaded wife and all. But no, we psychics aren’t swayed by that. We are as tired as any other American who has suffered through the past eight years, the war, tax increases, economy falling apart, home foreclosures, bankruptcies, skyrocketing grocery and gas costs, corporate greed and scandal, not to be confused with Congressional scandal, which has become all to commonplace of late, to the point we barely even notice when John Edwards is busted with his mistress, or when Larry Craig and his wide stance get him into trouble.

Maybe we are waking up and realizing that change is actually in our hands, our time is here, and while we don’t expect miracles, or bailouts (topic for another day) we deserve change, and right now?

Any change will do.
